The entrance road to Wachesaw Plantation East runs through a hospital parking lot. You may never need an emergency room walking distance from your home, but it is comforting to know it’s there.
The lifestyle at Wachesaw East, not to be confused with the private Wachesaw Plantation just down the road, is a healthy mix of reasonably priced real estate and a golf course that was good enough to be a fixture on the women’s professional golf tour in the late 1990s. In 1998, famed tour player Meg Mallon set the course record with a 62.
The Clyde Johnston layout evokes a strong sense of Scottish gold course design, with plenty of mounds to negotiate on the slightly banked fairways on the way to the smooth TIF-Eagle greens. With five sets of tee boxes, golfers can grow old gracefully at Wachesaw East and still record competitive golf scores.
Real estate alongside the golf course attracts both permanent residents as well as vacationers, some of whom offset their monthly payments by renting out their homes when they are not using them.
