Moss Creek is pretty much the granddaddy of golf communities in the golf community rich Bluffton area. Spread over 1,000 beautiful Low Country acres, Moss Creek opened in the early 1970s to great fanfare and, in 1976, hosted an annual major LPGA tournament that would continue to be run there for a decade. Winners included Hall of Famers Amy Alcott and Nancy Lopez.
Sited almost at the foot of the bridge to Hilton Head, Moss Creek is closer to the Atlantic Ocean beaches on the island than are other Bluffton-area communities. Its 36 holes of golf are early samples of the work of the legendary Tom Fazio, who has been pretty much Bluffton’s “in-house” golf course designer, responsible for the 36-hole layouts at Belfair and Berkeley Hall as well. Moss Creek certainly does not lack for amenities; besides the golf, it offers professionally designed “composition” tennis courts, a large and comprehensive fitness center, boating, fishing and plenty of walking trails.
Moss Creek is a popular local community and inventories in recent years have been slim. Anticipate lots priced from the mid $100s and homes from the mid six figures.
